APPLE HEADING TOWARD MOBILE GRAPHICS NIRVANA

Apple just tripled it's stake in in UK-based Imagination Technologies. They now own almost 10 % of the company.( Intel owns about 25%). Why do you care? This company makes very small multi-core graphics processors for mobile devices. Basically, very powerful graphics chips that sip power so they will work in mobile phones.
The only reason to leverage this kind of horsepower (from 2 to 16 cores on each graphics chip depending on platform) is to allow for gpu intensive activities such as 3D graphics, Hi-Def Video, etc. So the next wave of mobile technology promises to keep pace and perhaps even surpass anything possible with larger systems such as game consoles and full size computers. The sky is the limit for applications that can take advantage of this.

USING WORD CLOUDS AS RESEARCH

If you are trying to figure out which keywords to use to generate traffic for your blog, video, pic, etc. Try this

 Wordle: Youtube.com

This site is very handy. I saw WORDLE.NET used on CNN as a way to visualize some data and thought how handy it could be for several applications. Check it out.

SOCIAL NETWORKS AS NEWS OUTLETS (IRAN ELECTION COVERAGE)

The Iranian Govt. has banned all of the major news organizations (CNN, BBC) from covering the post election drama taking place on the streets of Tehran and elsewhere. There have been riots in the streets. Clashes with police and shootings. None of which CNN, BBC, or any other organization was able to cover. The Iranian Govt. Has cracked down on all media. But guess what they can't stop completely? The internet. For days, most of the news, video, and pictures coming from CNN have been culled from various social media networks like Twitter and Facebook. The Associated Free Press even put out an article admitting to this. CNN just broadcast a story saying the same thing. The Iranian Govt. has tried to shut down twitter and other sites. They have been moderately successful but not entirely. Once they figured out that the leak wasn't a major news outlet, they started closing the gaps. Not to be outdone, citizen journalists in Iran started using harder to trace services like Google Talk. The is nothing less that a revolutionary democratization of the "News" process. It has massive implications for journalists, news organizations, and society at large. I'm thrilled to have seen it first hand on Twitter and then second hand on CNN :)
